I was five in 1963, when my dad went to work at the GM
plant in Baltimore. Each year employee’s families were invited to the
unveiling of the new models. This included a tour of the plant. After seeing
rows of SS Chevelles, and GTO’s, I was hooked.
I began racing in 1976.
In 2004 I built a 1984 Cutlass for NHRA, and IHRA Stock classes.
After seeing some Nostalgia Super Stockers, I decided on a 66 Chevelle.
Meeting Dink Bishop and Fred Henderson, while racing my
Cutlass, was a twist of fait.
I asked them about the 422 series, lettered on Fred’s Thunderbolt, and Dink
filled me in. Dink introduced me to Rich Lamont and WOW! I got lucky and won
the 2009 season championship. This is one of the most professionally run
organization anywhere. This series has it all; great food, great people,
great racing, along with top dollar payouts. I consider it an honor and a
privilege to race with some of the people, and cars that helped make drag
racing what it is today. Rich puts on fantastic show for the spectators, and
takes care of the racers. We are attracting more sponsors every year, and
the track owners treat us really well.
